How My Burbank Realtor Saved My Chanel

I was a writer raised in Alabama but I worked in New York after college. Back then, I remember myself as a very fun-loving and independent woman. My first job was with a fashion magazine. My position as “fashion assistant” introduced me to the world of glamour and style. My career continued to soar high and then I met Led, a dashing divorcee from Burbank, CA. In 2000, we got married and we had two beautiful kids – one son and one daughter. We decided to settle down in Burbank so that we could live closer to Led's family and so that we could focus on our family business.

Things were going on very well. Led made sure that he gave me the “home of my dreams.” We lived in a two-story home. I was so in love with its Victorian theme. It was everything every woman could ever ask for. It also had a wide backyard where we would hold our barbecue parties every Sunday. The kids would play on the pool while Led and I get massages on the poolside. Everything was going fine.

Four years later, our eldest Rica, went to school. Since Led was always busy with the business, I always made it a point to cook breakfast for her or fetch her from school whenever I could. A year after, it was our son's turn to enter school. Alejandro was the apple of my eye. Just like what I did for Rica, I tried my very best to be a mom to Alejandro despite my very busy schedule. I would wake up early in the morning and slept late at night because I could only answer business emails right after I put the kids to sleep.

Logo of the National Association of Realtors.Led used to be a wonderful Dad and husband but ever since his travels increased, everything seemed to change. Led was consistently out of town or out of the country to attend business meetings. Most of the time, it was just me left with the kids. His travels increased until it came to a point when he we could barely see him in a month. Things started to change. He was cold. He would no longer call. Suddenly I felt so alone until 1 day, I got a phone call from my sister-in-law. She broke the painful news. Led had another woman. I could not explain what to feel at that moment. The first thing that came to mind were my kids.

It took me two weeks before everything finally sunk in. Finally, I had the courage to call Led. He was shocked. He was not expecting that I would find out. I no longer bothered to ask him about the other woman neither did I ask about his plans. I laid down my cards on the table. First, I told him that I would move back to New York and that I would bring the kids. He flared up. He said that I could do anything with my life but take the kids. This was non-negotiable. By hook or by crook, I would bring Rica and Alejandro with me.

It took two months before he was finally able to accept my decision in one condition – I would not get anything from him. Surprisingly, I was not scared. I was confident enough that I could find work and that I could support my kids. I only had one problem – I was short with my start-up finances. Yes, I know I could make it in the long run but moving in needs a lot of money – house rent, my kid's school, our daily consumption, etc. Led took everything that he could – the cars, the business, everything! And then I remembered, I was a luxury bag collector – Chanel, Louie Vuitton, Hermes, YSL, etc. I had about 20 in my closet. It was hard to sell my precious bags but I knew that I had no other choice. Finding a buyer was easy. I knew a lot of friends who would buy my bags in a snap.

Exactly a month before we were scheduled to move, my sister-in-law gave me a heart-warming surprise. Our house in Burbank was under her name and she was giving it to me to assist our financial needs. She told me that I could do anything with the house.

I only had one thing in mind – I would sell it. Of course, I was very happy! Aside from the fact that it would save my LV's and Chanel's, the money would be enough to help me and my kids start a new life. The next big step was to find a Burbank Realtor. I needed to find a Burbank Realtor who would help me sell the house in the soonest possible time. A good friend of mine referred an agent who's worked with her for years. I met with the Burbank Realtor and he checked the house for the pricing. I was confident enough that the house would sell fast but I was expecting the price to be around the range of $600,000 but I was surprised when the Burbank Realtor told me that I could still sell it for $850,000! Wow! That was enough money. The next dilemma that we had to face was selling the property fast.

The Burbank Realtor told me to focus on my kids and my plans and to leave all my selling worries with him. And so I did. Every other two days, my agent would send me reports – calls, viewing, ads posted, etc. By mid-week of Week 2, I got the best and the happiest news! It was the Burbank Realtor telling me that he just closed the deal. It felt surreal. I jumped off my feet and hugged my two kids. The past six months have been really tough but this phone call from my Burbank Realtor gave me and my kids a new hope.

I could not thank my Burbank Realtor enough. At one point, I thought of going through the selling process on my own but finding a reliable agent was the right move. Now, I'm in New York. I am currently renting a two-bedroom apartment while I search for nice properties nearby and while I work my finances. I got a job as a Creative Director in an advertising company. The kids are waiting for school to begin. In the meantime, Rica is attending her ballet class and Alejandro is so in love with music and his drum lessons. I have not heard from Led since then. But good life goes on – and all this made possible by my Burbank Realtor.
